So here we are, a week after @balltogethernow_festival and we’re physically and emotionally ready to summarise it.
Teaming up with @heronphoenixladies to become Penny Phoenix for the tournament was a master stroke. We scooped not one but two fabulous keepers in @h_ollis and @jess_amidala 🧤 🧤 Save after save! Rock solids at the back were @sarahfoster21 and Cassie, aided and abetted by incredible wing backs @1welshy and @amybyrne17 bombing it up the sides and down again when needed. Midfield maestros were @lizal9 @jennewby8 @christiner_xx and @beckio83 and leading the line with typical effortless cool was our @fi76.d (who else would play in sunglasses?!)
We also had top support on the bench from Liverpool league freelancers @hayleymcallister1 @hannahhopkins_1 and repaid our debt by making special guest appearances for Sefton Park Rangers. I’d like to say we’re like the Harlem Globetrotters of the league but frankly I’d be lying…
We had an absolute ball of a weekend and to be honest the football came a close second to an incredible weekend of entertainment and joviality. Cannot believe this was first time out for the festival given the level of organisation and despite what the weather gods had chucked on us ⛈️ including emergency evacuation. Massive thanks to the organising committee.
Oh yeah the footy…well we only went all the way to the final of the plate competition and came runners up! Never played together before and there we are playing against football royalty and eventual plate competition winners @queerspace_fc
Made pals for life (that includes you @northwalesdragons - thank you for the lovely memento!) plus @llka_football (in their dreamy kits) @hotflushfc (tournament pending) @kschrzaszczyki (Poland trip pending) and there was no end of offers of friendlies and meet ups to be planned in the weeks ahead.
So positive vibes all round, shoes have finally dried out and the aches and pains have subsided (mostly from belly laughing!) leaving us with just warm and fuzzy memories of a boss weekend. See you next year!
